Planes
The closest airports to the venue are: Florence (FLR) – 40 minutes, Pisa (PSA) – 1 hour 10 minutes, Bologna (BLQ) – 1 hour 35 minutes. Direct flights from the U.S. are limited, but short layovers are typically available.
For more direct international options, consider: Rome (FCO) – 3.5 hour drive or Milan (MXP) – 4 hour drive. Rome and Milan offer more nonstop flights from the U.S., but are farther from the venue. There are high speed trains between Rome, Milan, and Florence, see below.
Trains
There are local trains available between Certaldo (the closest town to the wedding venue) and Florence/Siena. There is a high speed train between Milan and Florence (2 hr), as well as Rome and Florence (1hr 40min), for those coming from farther away or extending their vacations to other parts of Italy.
And Automobiles
Rental cars are widely available at all nearby airports and are often the most cost-effective option (please reserve in advance).
To drive in Italy, you’ll need an International Driver’s Permit (IDP), available through AAA (in person or online). If ordering online, apply at least 2–3 weeks before departure. Be sure to bring your U.S. driver’s license with you.
UberX is generally not available in Florence/Tuscany. Uber Black is available but expensive. We’ll share local taxi information closer to the wedding—advance reservations are generally required.

La Poggiolaia
This property is a 3 minute drive from Villa Il Pozzo, and is the sister property to the venue. We have the entire property reserved from Thursday, June 10th - Monday June 14th. Rooms are first come first served. La Poggiolaia is a peaceful farmhouse-style property set in the Tuscan hills, about an hour from Florence and Siena. Guests can enjoy a pool, beautiful countryside views, and easy access to nearby towns like San Gimignano and Certaldo. A car is recommended for getting around. There is a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, sleeping 2-4 people each. To reserve one, use the “Book here” button below — apartments at La Poggiolaia are booked through us, not on the property's own website. A shuttle will run from here.
Il Paluffo
This property is a 7 minute drive from Villa Il Pozzo. A restored 15th-century Tuscan villa set among vineyards and olive groves near Certaldo. The main villa hosts a four-room B&B, and the estate also offers four independent apartments that sleep 4–6 with private gardens. On-site there is a chemical-free natural swimming pool, daily organic breakfast, wine & olive-oil tastings and cooking classes, free parking, bikes, and EV charging. Rooms in the main B&B run €205–€224 per night; the apartments work out to €112–€172 per room, per night, so they are the better value for a family or a group willing to share. La Collina degli Olivi
A small, family-run agriturismo set among its own olive groves in the hills just outside Certaldo. There is an infinity pool that looks out over the valley, a wide terrace for breakfast and sunset aperitivi, and views that reach all the way to the towers of San Gimignano. Toni and Patricia have run the property since 2019 and press their own olive oil on site. Rooms include breakfast and air conditioning; two are family rooms that take up to three children, and one on the ground floor is fully wheelchair accessible. E-bikes and rental cars can be arranged on site, and dogs are welcome. Shuttle service is available from this property — just let us know in your RSVP.
Hotel Certaldo
This property is a 12 minute drive from the venue and is situated in the closest nearby town, Certaldo. A refined 4-star hotel set in a renovated 16th-century flour mill with a riverside garden. Certaldo's train station is about a 7-minute walk, which makes day trips to Florence or Siena easy. The hotel features an outdoor pool, 24-hour fitness room, daily breakfast, and free parking. The hotel has released most of its standard rooms to another booking, so at the moment only suites and above are available — the upper end of that range. If those rooms aren't taken up by the end of September, some may come back — so if the suites are more than you were hoping to spend, it's worth checking again in early October.
Albergo Il Castello
Up in Certaldo Alto, the medieval hilltop town at the heart of this whole corner of Tuscany. The hotel occupies the ancient palace of Scoto di Semifonte and has been in the same family since 1896. There are nine rooms across four types, all looking out over Certaldo, San Gimignano and the hills between them, plus a large garden with a fountain where meals are served outside under the trees, a restaurant, and a jazz bar the owners run themselves. Antica Torre del Borgo
A four-room boutique B&B tucked into a medieval tower in the quiet streets of Certaldo Alto — original wooden beams, terracotta floors and exposed brick, with windows that open onto the hills and the distant towers of San Gimignano. Breakfast is served at one shared table. Rooms have air conditioning and ensuite bathrooms, and public parking is free. Book directly through their website and stays of three nights or more include a welcome aperitivo in the village. Only four rooms, so this one will go quickly. Mormoraia
The most indulgent option on this list. Mormoraia is a former convent turned working wine estate in the hills of San Gimignano, with an infinity pool facing the town's famous towers, a spa with sauna, Turkish bath and an outdoor heated jacuzzi, and a restaurant and cellar pouring the estate's own wines and olive oil. Massages and spa access are bookable for an extra fee. E-bikes and walking trails start at the door. Worth a look if you're extending your trip and want somewhere to properly settle into.
